Catacroquet Responsive WEBsite
Catacroquet Group is an upscale chain of restaurants in Barcelona, specialising in gourmet croquetas. Yum.
BRIEF/PROBLEM
Cata needed a way for…
THE SOLUTION
reservation system with blocked meal times
CUSTOMER VIEW
Web & Mobile
STAFF VIEW
Web & Mobile
WHAT I DID
Getting to this solution involved working closely with Cata’s owner to better understand the needs of the restaurant, staff, and their customers.
Biggest challenge
Catering to customer booking needs & the restaurant’s capability to serve customers.
Desired outcome
To give customers complete freedom to choose when they would like to visit your restaurant; however…
that would cause logistical problems in determining the restaurant’s capacity at any given time
posed a big coding challenge for the developers who needed to impose limitations to prevent overbooking
Solution
A time slot system that…
limits number of booked tables by space capacity within the time slots
allows the restaurant staff time to stagger lunch/dinner preparations
gives customers several blocked-time choices for lunch/dinner
BREIF/PROBLEM
Cata also needed a way for…
Confinement and social distancing measures meant the only way to connect with customers directly was through the Cata website. So our next challenge was to build a temporary online shop.
The Solution
A one-step product selection page
where users choose from a list of croquetas and select the quantity desired.
The check-out process is 3 steps (details of delivery, payment and confirmation) with each step clearly identifiable on the top of the check-out page so the user always knows:
where they are in the process
how long the process will take
What I did
To tackle this task I had to research UX best practices for eCommerce.
The challenge
The average checkout flow of an eCommerce site is 15 steps and I wanted to reduce the flow by more than half.
Inspiration
Las Muns is an empanada fast-food chain and they provided the best example of creating an online shop for a restaurant specialising in one product.
THE RESULT
The temporary online shop became Cata’s only source of revenue during Barcelona’s pandemic lockdown from March to May 2020.
